How Did We Get Here?​

Several years ago, a friend of mine, who coaches at a local university, asked me to help one of his players get a job at my current employer. I did, and it worked out well for both the athlete and the company. Over the next several years, this process repeated itself multiple times. Clearly, there was a pattern—student-athletes made excellent employees. A seed had been planted.

Around this time, my role at the company transitioned into recruiting. When searching for new hires, I naturally turned my focus to athletes. Once again, I found success that benefited both the student-athlete and the company. But this time, something was different. I began speaking with other hiring managers and connections on LinkedIn, and I noticed they also saw the value in hiring student-athletes.

At that point, the seed was growing into a dream: “Why not start a hiring agency that focuses solely on placing student-athletes?”

​

So, my research began. Surely, someone had already capitalized on this niche market. But to my surprise, they hadn’t! I knew this space in recruiting needed to be tapped into.

​

As I networked and explored the idea of making this a business, something occurred to me—not only do employers see the value in this service, but athletes do as well. Almost every former athlete I spoke with said the same thing: “I wish I had that when I was in school.” That was it for me. I knew I had to take action.

​
